Date: November 4th
Location: Old Armory Recreation Center, Waynesville, NC
What a day we had at the Old Armory Recreation Center in Waynesville on November 4th!
Blue Dragon TKD turned 15, and we celebrate in style! It was a day filled with energy, kicks, and a whole lot of breaking (boards and bricks, not rules!).
Every student shone brightly, from our littlest white belts to the seasoned black belts. This year, we had 22 First Dan black belt candidates, 3 for Second Dan, 2 for Third, and 2 for Fourth.
They were determined to pass the test and move on to the next level. Our students have been working hard, and it showed.
Grandmaster Tania Habayeb graced the event, conducting the testing in the morning, ensuring that our students met the high standards of Taekwondo proficiency.
Every student participated in this grand event, showcasing their skills by breaking boards or performing the Poomsae forms.
The Sparring Demonstrations displayed agility and technique, capturing the essence of Taekwondo’s dynamic combat style.
A special highlight of the day was the debut of our Demo Team. This team, consisting of about 20 talented students, performed a choreographic routine with synchronized kicking, precise board breaking, and weapon handling.
Fresh off their impressive third-place finish in their first competition in South Carolina, the team brought their A-game, thrilling the packed audience at the Waynesville Armory.
A special mention must go to the spectacular wood-breaking segment. It featured many acrobatic and jumping kicks, captivating the audience with each break.
And last but not least, brick-breaking. It’s not just physical strength but mental focus, determination to break barriers, and showing what we’re made of.
Sabumnim Hale broke 15 slabs of concrete to commemorate our 15th anniversary.
The day was more than just a celebration; it reflected our year-long journey together. As we wrap up 2023, we are reminded once again that the spirit and strength of the Blue Dragons are unmatched.
Thank you to everyone who made this day possible – our students, parents, alumni, and friends. Your support and enthusiasm make all the difference.
Blue Dragons, keep it up.
Ke-Up!
